Chapter synopsis:

Soybeans are one of the most important crops grown, particularly in North and South America. Consequently, soybean-derived co-products are widely available as potential feedstuffs and will likely continue to grow, especially if demand for renewable energy derived from oilseeds expands. Soybean-derived feedstuffs are unique they can supply both oil and protein components to animal diets. Specific proportions and nutrient characteristics can be altered depending on how the soybean is fractionated and by the application of heat. This review will address how these feedstuffs are used in ruminant diets and some implications for how soybean-derived feeds may be used to meet precision feeding targets.
