Chapter synopsis: This chapter reviews the use of infrared thermography as a tool in precision livestock farming to assess livestock health. It assesses key challenges such as accounting to ambient environmental conditions as well as the development of infrared thermography technologies to address these challenges. The chapter includes a case study on the use of the technique to detect pre-clinical signs of bovine respiratory disease.
