Chapter synopsis: Herbicide-resistant (HR) crops have been a boon for farmers who have adopted them as they provided simple, flexible and economical tool to manage a broad spectrum of weeds and weeds resistant to other herbicides. This chapter reviews the major types of HR crop (commercialized or under development), their benefits and pitfalls. It also discusses how they can fit into an integrated weed management (IWM) programme.
