Chapter synopsis: Agricultural biodiversity, commonly referred to as agrobiodiversity, is a part of biodiversity that is conserved in agricultural habitats and food production landscapes. Adopting a multidimensional approach to their management is essential to increase sustainability of agricultural habitats. This chapter describes the application of food system concept in providing a framework to enable such a multidimensional approach. The chapter outlines the multiple dimensions of food security and places food security in the context of global environment change. Finally, the chapter explains the concept of multifactor food security promotion.
