Chapter synopsis: The growth and production of soybean, an important cash crop, are severely restricted by salt stress. Salt-tolerant soybean varieties can contribute to sustainable soybean production. This chapter describes different approaches to developing salt tolerance in soybean, including a study of germplasm resources for salt tolerance, -omic approaches and molecular breeding of salt-tolerant soybean varieties. The chapter looks ahead to future trends and developments in this area.
