Chapter synopsis:

This chapter explains the development, key components, and applications of InfoCrop: a process-based, dynamic simulation model developed by Indian scientists to simulate the growth, development, and yield of major tropical crops. These include wheat, rice, maize, sorghum, pearl millet, soybean, chickpea, pigeon pea, groundnut, mustard, potato, and cotton. InfoCrop has also been expanded to cover sugarcane and perennial crops such as Coconut with specific modifications of the base model. A case study is provided on the development of InfoCrop for coconut
