Chapter synopsis:

Globalization, urbanization, and advances in the agricultural industry have put agri-food supply chain management (AFSCM), including agri-food chains and their associated organizations, on the agenda today. The main purpose of this study is to present the current developments in the literature by conducting a detailed review of AFSCM. A descriptive analysis of the literature review articles is carried out to determine the scope of the articles. A detailed review is designed as well to provide an overview of the state of the literature and to suggest areas for future research. The study also focuses on the use of physical and digital infrastructures in AFSCM and their relationship with the supply chain in terms of network design. The review results show that AFSCM is an evolving and increasingly important topic, and that AFSCM requires an adequate and systematic supply chain infrastructure for successful and sustainable use of digital and physical infrastructure.
