With a combination of new supply chain management techniques and technological advancement, there are useful insights from the region on modern food production, value addition and associated services to ensure consumers have affordable and healthy food options. Notwithstanding, some challenges have arisen as these efforts have increased. In this chapter, an oversight of the current state of the agri-food supply chain in the region is presented in terms of production, international trade and the adopted supply chain strategies and technologies employed. The key challenges in primary production, food safety and sustainability are also discussed and insights on how these are being addressed or can be addressed are presented. It is highlighted that there are opportunities to exploit digitalisation in these challenges.
