This chapter highlights the significant evolution of the global avocado industry, which has experienced extraordinary growth in the last very few decades, both in the American continent where the fruit was originated, and in the other continents. The chapter indicates the important avocado producing regions in the different countries and their characteristics and potentials. The chapter also discusses the future strong growth prospects in emerging markets for avocados, such as in Asia, particularly in China.
