Chapter synopsis:

This chapter examines how South Asian agriculture and land use are impacted by climate change. It takes into account changes in weather patterns, temperature fluctuations and greenhouse gas emission levels. The chapter also examines adaptive strategies such as crop varieties, irrigation techniques and mitigation strategies and how these can be used to lessen the effects of climate change. Mitigation opportunities, such as adopting climate-smart agriculture and renewable energy integration are also described. The chapter moves on to provide an overview of current adaptation strategies and disaster risk reduction measures for building climate resilience. It also provides case studies for specific regions in South Asia, emphasising the importance of adaptation strategies for climate change resilience.
